Tissue Regeneration with PRF
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (or PRF) is a therapy for TMJ that uses your own body’s platelets, white blood cells, and stem cells to regenerate tissue. In some TMJ conditions like temporal tendonitis for example, tissue damage is the source of pain for patients. But what happens when the solution is to actually grow new tissue? Thats where PRF comes in.

Dr. Postol attends the White House Sleep Equity Convening
A panel of experts, including Dr. Kevin Postol as President of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, met with members of congressional staff to discuss causes and health impacts of sleep disparities. The meeting was sponsored by Project Sleep, a group with a goal to continue sleep research with funding from the NHI, CDC, and DOD. The lack of adequate sleep heightens the risk of various adverse health outcomes, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, mental health conditions, and even mortality. There is an urgent need to address sleep health inequalities, particularly in underserved racial and ethnic communities. The panel discussed what congress can do to accelerate the steps needed to promote sleep health equity. Everyone deserves to have the same access to the benefits of healthy sleep.

Why Choose Us
TMJ and Sleep Apnea Treatment in St. Louis, MO
If you’re one of the many individuals in St. Louis and surrounding areas struggling with chronic jaw pain, headaches, difficulty sleeping, or frequent snoring, please know that our practice is here to help. Living with the discomfort of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders or the daily fatigue caused by sleep apnea can have far-reaching effects on every aspect of your life—from your mood and energy levels to your overall health. By focusing on specialized therapies and harnessing the latest technology, we strive to make sure that you receive the quality of care you deserve, all while remaining close to home.

Understanding TMJ and Its Impact
TMJ disorders can arise from a variety of causes, including teeth grinding (bruxism), misaligned bite patterns, traumatic injuries, or even stress-related muscle tension. When left untreated, the pain can radiate to the neck and shoulders, trigger migraines, or even affect your posture. Our primary goal is to identify the root cause of your TMJ discomfort. We do this through careful clinical evaluation, imaging technologies (when needed), and by discussing your specific symptoms and lifestyle factors. From there, we design a custom treatment plan to help ease your pain, improve joint function, and prevent further complications.
Sleep Apnea: More Than Just Snoring
Sleep apnea, particularly obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), occurs when the airway becomes blocked during sleep, causing you to stop breathing momentarily. These repeated interruptions not only leave you feeling tired during the day, but can also contribute to serious health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and increased risk of stroke. While traditional CPAP machines can be effective, they aren’t the only solution, and some patients find them uncomfortable or difficult to maintain. That’s why we offer alternatives like oral appliance therapy, which can help keep your airway open without the bulk of a machine. Our approach prioritizes comfort, ensuring that you’re more likely to adhere to treatment and experience lasting relief.

Personalized, Compassionate Care
One of the hallmarks of our practice is our commitment to truly personalized treatment. We understand that every patient’s needs are unique—whether you have mild TMJ symptoms or you’ve been living with debilitating jaw pain and sleep disruptions for years. Our team, led by Dr. Kevin F. Postol and dedicated nurses, utilizes proven techniques such as Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy to aid in tissue regeneration when necessary. PRF can be an especially promising solution for patients whose TMJ issues stem from damaged or inflamed tissues. By tapping into your body’s own natural healing mechanisms, we can potentially accelerate recovery and enhance comfort in a way that feels both innovative and minimally invasive.
